Hi my name is Matt Bennett if I had to descibe myself in one word I’d say good looking with great hair!.

I’m 28 short a little bit fat ( although I prefer the term famine resistant) sell myself well don’t I. Anyway cut to the chase a typical man I’ve always loved trucks so the thought of building one and travelling the world has always been a dream. Well dream no more I left my job slaving for a major retail company as a senior manager in July 04 and ran away to South Africa. My four months in Africa was without doubt the best time in my life its hard to imagine any experience ever topping it but in the spirit of adveture I’ll give it a go. The four months went so quickly with to many experiences to mention the best of which was meeting the woman of my dreams I fell completely in love ( you know who you are). Anyway in the real world back in the u.k. we split up and I could not deal with going back to a normal job. So I sold my house bought a land Rover and planned to do the mature thing and run away around the world. Well being a land Rover it duly fell apart big time before i'd even left the u.k!!.

Back to square one I decided a Toyota was the way forward. I also became aware that I couldn’t navigate for shit so having someone who could read a map might be a good idea. In theory finding someone to come along should be easy but 'in theory' comunisum works and we all know how that went. In steped Big Red aka Phill Smith life long amigo and navigator extraordinaire. After months of burning money and time that’s it! we're off round the world so bollocks to the real world you only get one life and I plan to waste it!

No kids no commitment just trucks, mates and adventure!

Well how to follow that!!!! Well best start by giving you my name but then Matt has already told you that, even my real name too!! Oh yeah, before we get any further best let you all into a little secret, me navigate? That would be funny if I didn’t actually have to do it!

So before I was invited on this little adventure, I whiled away my time in the marine industry, doing a range of things from building boats, campaigning them, and sailing them. A great way to escape the real world and the office, whilst at the same time seeing a lot of this amazing planet. My thanks here to everyone who has ever given me a job, god knows why you did! Oh and a special thanks to one bloke who steered me along throughout my time in sailing, and also helped me develop what he like to call my deft touch!!!!!!! But by the age of 28, I was beginning to think is this really what I want to do for the rest of my life, and at one point even actually considered going to look for an office job. Then along came my best mate and offered me a lifeline, a chance to avoid the real world for another 2 years, and be far away enough for nobody to complain about it to me. Perfect, I was up for it in a flash.

So for the last 12 months I have been struggling to read all the navigation books I can in the hope that I can wing it and get us all the way to New Zealand. It should be interesting to watch our route develop and see if it actually goes anywhere near the intended route I have chosen; only time will tell!!!!

Well enough of my rambling on, go and enjoy the rest of the website, in fact why don’t you turn off the computer and go and do something less boring instead. (Members of a certain generation will remember the TV show that line came from)!!!! So to finish, and completely plagiarising the words of my esteemed college above, one life people, go waste it!!!!!!!!!
